What's a Rock School? |
| CSMD's Rock School is a unique program which uses today's music to teach children and young adults the art of performance. We teach students between the ages of 6 - 18 years and graduate them as true rock stars.

How does the school work? |
| There are two ways to join. A group or band can join together or individuals can join and be placed into an appropriate band. Students may select from: guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard and voice. Choices of bands include: rock, contemporary christian, country, and more. A minimum of 4 people are needed to form a band.

| All school of rock students receive a weekly 30 minute private lesson on their chosen instrument or voice. Students will also participate in a 1 hour weekly band rehearsal where they will be coached by our professional musicians to prepare them for our "Big Rock Concert" in the Spring. Past show themes have included 80's Rock, Van Halen, Country Hits, Jimmy Hendrix, and Casting Crowns.

| We have found that the combination of private lessons and group band practice with their peers help motivate kids to practice harder and become excellent musicians.

| Students will also have the opportunity to come to our open jam sessions, rock classes and seminars that are free to all of our students. Themes of these events include The Art of Stage Presence, Songwriting, Rock History, How to Record a CD, Band Promotion and Gigs, and Music Business 101.

Is it too late to join? How do I join? |
| We have open enrollment throughout the year. You may join anytime and take part in the show. If you are not ready to play yet we will put you to work in the sound booth or as a tech member. Come by Columbus School of Music and Dance to register and schedule lessons. You may also register online. Click here to request information.

My child has never played an instrument or sung before. Can they still join? |
| We have a great group of experienced musicians and teachers who train beginners through advanced students. Some experience is necessary to join a band. We recommend that students with no experience take classes prior to being placed in a band or group. All of our students, regardless of their level have the opportunity to participate in the concert.

My child wants to sing and play an instrument - do you have vocal coaches? |
| Our school has experienced professional musicians that teach all rock instruments: guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboards, as well as vocal coaches. If your child would like to play an instrument as well as sing this is possible.

How much does this cost? |
| Enrollment in the School of Rock is based on a monthly tuition. Please contact Columbus School of Music and Dance for current tuition rates.
